Young national weightlifters bring medal pride to Warsaw

At the championship held at the Raszyn Centrum Sports Hall in Warsaw, Burcu Alıcı won 3 silver medals in the women's 55kg category with 85kg in the snatch, 103kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 188kg, securing second place in Europe.

Stating that she had a good preparation process for the organization despite some setbacks, silver medalist Burcu Alıcı said, "My goal in Warsaw was actually to become the European champion and have our national anthem played, but I received the reward for my efforts; I became the European runner-up with 85kg in the snatch, 103kg in the clean and jerk, and 188kg in total." she said.

Harun Algül took the top step of the podium in the men's 55kg category with 106kg in the snatch, while Harun Algül also won a silver medal in the same category with 103kg.

Explaining that he experienced misfortune in the clean and jerk but was very proud to have won a gold medal in the snatch, Harun said, "I believe I have made both the people of Şırnak and my country very happy. While I was lifting 130kg in training for the clean and jerk, I was stuck at 123kg here; I think it was a stroke of bad luck, but this gold medal in the snatch made us happy." he stated.

Ertuğrul Seçgin, who won a silver medal in Poland, stated that he aims to win medals in the senior category both in Europe and globally. Explaining that he also holds a world runner-up title, Ertuğrul said, "Hopefully, better results will follow. I placed second in the 55kg snatch with 103kg; our opponent also lifted 103kg, but because he lifted it before me, he took first place." he added.
