24-year-old Gendarmerie Petty Officer Sergeant Hakan Fidan, who went to the riverside with his friends in the Terme district of Samsun and entered the water to cool off, has drowned. The lifeless body of the young petty officer, who had come to visit his family while on annual leave, was found by divers at a depth of 6 meters.

In the Akçay River located in the Akçay neighborhood of Samsun's Terme district, Gendarmerie Petty Officer Sergeant Hakan Fidan (24), who had gone to the riverside to relax with his friends, entered the river after a while.
FOUND DEAD AT A DEPTH OF 6 METERS
Losing his balance in the deep part of the river, Fidan began to struggle in the water. Meanwhile, his friends, who were trying to rescue the young petty officer in the river, notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, health, gendarmerie, and fire department teams were dispatched to the area.
Diver teams affiliated with the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Ünye Fire Department reached the young petty officer's lifeless body at a depth of approximately 6 meters. Examinations conducted by health teams at the scene determined that the petty officer had lost his life.
HAD COME TO VISIT HIS FAMILY FOR ANNUAL LEAVE
The petty officer's body was taken to a private hospital in the Ünye district of Ordu.
It was learned that 24-year-old Hakan Fidan, who was stationed in the Gebze district of Kocaeli, served as a team commander and had come to the Ünye district of Ordu to visit his family for his annual leave.
Crime scene investigation teams affiliated with the Terme District Gendarmerie Command and the prosecutor conducted examinations at the site where the incident occurred.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
