Young violinist Laçin Akyol, who performed in many concerts with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and the Mersin State Opera and Ballet (MDOB) and won third place in the Grumiaux International Violin Competition for Young Violinists in 2015, has lost her life in a traffic accident in Mersin. Akyol, who was studying music in Switzerland, had drawn attention with her achievements. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had gifted Akyol a violin due to her success. The young artist's family has decided to donate her organs.
SHE HAD RETURNED TO HER FAMILY
18-year-old violinist Laçin Akyol, who was injured in a traffic accident in Mersin, has passed away at the hospital where she was receiving treatment. Akyol, who was studying music in Switzerland, had returned to her family last month after breaking her leg while skiing. The young artist was critically injured on January 25 when she was struck by a car while crossing Adnan Menderes Boulevard and was taken to Mersin University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. Despite all interventions in the intensive care unit, Akyol passed away yesterday evening.
HER FAMILY DONATED HER ORGANS
It was reported that the funeral of Laçin Akyol, the daughter of Mersin State Opera and Ballet (MDOB) artists Mahmut and Övül Akyol, will be held tomorrow at Çiftlikköy Cemetery. It was also learned that Akyol's organs were donated by the decision of her family.
