Youth who attacked elderly couple on bus also arrested
In the investigation regarding the assault on an elderly couple traveling on a municipal bus in Mersin, the suspect who was initially released under judicial control has been arrested after being taken back into custody.

A.O.T. (17), who was caught and initially released under judicial control for allegedly assaulting disabled R.P. (77) and his wife H.P. (71) along with his father I.T. on a municipal bus in the Toroslar district on December 15, 2023, was taken back into custody upon the prosecutor's instruction.
Following his processing at the police station, A.O.T. was referred to the courthouse and arrested.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
On December 15, 2023, in Toroslar, the assault by A.O.T. and his father I.T., who serves as a high school principal in the Tarsus district, on disabled R.P. and his wife H.P. during a dispute while traveling on a municipal bus was recorded by the vehicle's security camera. Following a complaint, I.T. was arrested, while his son was released under judicial control. The footage had caused a major public outcry on social media.
In a written statement by the Provincial Directorate of National Education, it was stated that the argument between I.T., A.O.T., and R.P. on the bus had broken out over a "seat".
