Yeniden Refah Party Deputy Chairman Suat Kılıç spoke regarding Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's application to participate in the CHP's presidential primary.

Speaking on Ekol TV, Kılıç argued that İmamoğlu, who has officially applied to be the CHP's presidential candidate, should resign from his mayoral position.

Kılıç said, "It snows in Istanbul, there is mud. The mayor needs to be focused on Istanbul. I live in Ankara; I look at the traffic, I look at whether the environment is clean or not. I look at whether stray animals have been collected or not," he said.

"FOR AN ELECTION WITH AN UNCERTAIN DATE..."

In his speech, Kılıç summarized his points as follows:

"If he is declaring his candidacy for an election with an uncertain date, it means he will mobilize all resources for this. In that case, he needs to resign from the mayoralty.

We are also in the opposition and preparing for the election, but İmamoğlu has an important duty. If the election were in 6 months, fine, we could tolerate it. According to the Constitution, the election is in May 2028."
