Yüksel appointed to CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency, Gürsel Tekin says 'I have no knowledge'

Following reports that 'Mehmet Ali Yüksel has been appointed to the CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency in place of Gürsel Tekin', journalist İsmail Saymaz, who reached out to Gürsel Tekin regarding the issue, reported the notable development on his social media account.

Saymaz's post, in which he stated that Tekin was unaware of the matter, is as follows:

"I spoke with Gürsel Tekin.

Tekin said the following:

“I am hearing from you that an appointment has been made to the CHP provincial presidency.

I have no knowledge of it. I have no information. I do not know who has been appointed.

I am at my post until October 16th. I am the authorized person until that date.”

KILIÇDAROĞLU PROPOSED IT

Regarding the appointment in question, Saymaz commented: "Kılıçdaroğlu directly proposed the appointment of Mehmet Ali Yüksel to the CHP İstanbul provincial presidency. The decision passed unanimously.

CHP sources say that some of Gürsel Tekin's behaviors during the recent Istanbul program drew reactions, and that these reactions may have influenced the appointment decision."

‘HE IS CONTINUING HIS DUTY'

Barış Yarkadaş also stated that he had spoken with Gürsel Tekin. Yarkadaş conveyed that in the statement Tekin made regarding the allegations, he said he was following the developments through the media.

Yarkadaş included the following statements in his post:

CHP İstanbul Provincial Chair Gürsel Tekin IS CONTINUING HIS DUTY. The reports in some media outlets that “Tekin has been removed from office” are not true.

Suggestions regarding a “higher position at the headquarters” for Gürsel Tekin were discussed today. However, this is not legally possible anyway. Because Gürsel Tekin came to office by court order. Therefore, no legal action can be taken until the “injunction” is lifted.

The court date when the injunction will be discussed is October 16… I just spoke with Tekin for tv100. “I also heard the news and speculations from the media. We are at our jobs. There is an induction ceremony at the Provincial Presidency tomorrow at 12:00,” he said. Tekin also used the expression, “I am striving to fulfill the duty entrusted to me properly until October 16. I have no time to deal with speculations.”
