2.4 billion dollars in external financing secured

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek announced that they have secured approximately 2.4 billion dollars in external financing this year from the Council of Europe Development Bank, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for regions affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek provided information regarding the external financing resources secured by Turkey.

Stating that efforts to secure external financing to address the damages caused by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes and to rebuild the region are ongoing, Şimşek noted that in this context, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has provided 100 million dollars in financing to Türk Eximbank.

Pointing out that this financing aims to support firms operating in the export sector for the repair and development of infrastructure in the provinces affected by the earthquake, Şimşek said, "Additionally, we have secured 100 million dollars in financing from the Islamic Development Bank for the Development and Investment Bank of Turkey."

Expressing that this resource will be used for the financing of agricultural products and food security projects for businesses in the earthquake-affected region and those connected to it, Şimşek stated the following:

"In order to develop the earthquake region, we have secured approximately 2.4 billion dollars in external financing this year from the Council of Europe Development Bank, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. We will continue our efforts to secure favorable external financing both until the end of the year and throughout the coming year with determination. With these financing opportunities, exporter firms in the provinces affected by the earthquake and agricultural and food projects of businesses in this region will be supported."

Şimşek had previously announced that 400 million euros in financing had been secured from the European Investment Bank to heal the wounds of the earthquake and contribute to the reconstruction of cities.
