According to the statement made by the Ministry of Justice, the "duty notary" system, which was launched on April 6, 2019, in collaboration with the Notaries Union of Turkey to allow notary offices to provide services on weekends, was suspended for 1.5 years in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The practice was resumed on July 31, 2021, following the lifting of pandemic measures.
To date, 2 million 374 thousand 653 transactions have been carried out at duty notaries, including 1 million 593 thousand 290 second-hand vehicle sales and 163 thousand 140 first-registration transactions.
Notaries designated as duty notaries provide services in all provinces and some districts on weekends between 10:00 and 16:00 without a lunch break. Duty notary locations can be found on the website of the Notaries Union of Turkey.
