2023 housing sales statistics have been released
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shared the Housing Sales Statistics for December. Accordingly, housing sales in 2023 decreased by 17.5 percent compared to the previous year, totaling 1 million 225 thousand 926. Housing sales to foreigners in 2023 decreased by 48.1 percent compared to the previous year, falling to 35 thousand 5.

Accordingly, housing sales in 2023 decreased by 17.5 percent compared to the previous year, totaling 1 million 225 thousand 926.
In housing sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 198 thousand 739 housing sales and 16.2 percent. Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 114 thousand 432 housing sales and a 9.3 percent share, and Izmir with 65 thousand 465 housing sales and a 5.3 percent share. The provinces with the lowest number of housing sales were Ardahan with 426 houses, Hakkari with 501 houses, and Tunceli with 970 houses, respectively.
OVER 138 THOUSAND HOUSES SOLD IN DECEMBER
Across Turkey, housing sales in December decreased by 33.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 138 thousand 577. In housing sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 23 thousand 714 housing sales and 17.1 percent. Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 11 thousand 458 housing sales and an 8.3 percent share, and Izmir with 7 thousand 166 housing sales and a 5.2 percent share. The province with the lowest number of housing sales was Hakkari with 65 houses.
MOST SALES MADE TO RUSSIANS
By nationality, the highest number of housing sales in 2023 was made to citizens of the Russian Federation. Citizens of the Russian Federation purchased 10 thousand 560 houses in Turkey in 2023.
Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by citizens of Iran with 4 thousand 272 houses and citizens of Iraq with 1 thousand 917 houses, respectively.
In December, citizens of the Russian Federation purchased 527 houses in Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by citizens of Iran with 205 houses and citizens of Ukraine with 113 houses, respectively.
