2023 tax record holders announced: Who is the leader in income tax and corporate tax?

The Ankara Tax Office has announced the list of taxpayers who declared the highest taxes in the province, based on the 2023 income tax and corporate tax returns. The names that stood out on the tax record holders list and the amounts of tax paid once again highlighted the influence of major players in Turkey's economic structure.

When examining the income tax returns, Rahmi Koç took the top spot with 480 million TL in tax. As one of Turkey's most prominent business figures, Koç reaffirmed his weight in the business world with this list. While a taxpayer who chose not to disclose their name took second place, Mert Gür stood out in third place with a tax declaration of 142 million TL. Abdullah Tolu, a writer for Ekonomi Gazetesi and a certified public accountant, also made a name for himself by entering the list at 97th place with 7 million TL in tax.

On the corporate tax record holders list, the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ) ranked first with a tax payment of 5.8 billion TL. Following the energy sector giant, Eti Maden Operations came in second with 3.6 billion TL. Another name that stood out among public institutions was İller Bankası A.Ş. The bank ranked third with a tax declaration of 2.4 billion TL.

Anonymous Taxpayers and Notable Companies: Another detail that drew attention in both lists was the high number of taxpayers who preferred not to disclose their names. Four out of the 10 names on the income tax list and three out of the 10 names on the corporate tax list chose to keep their identities hidden. Conversely, major organizations such as Türk Traktör A.Ş., Eti Soda Üretim San. Tic. A.Ş., and the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) stood out by clearly declaring their names on the list.
