The 43.93% revaluation increase determined by the Revenue Administration of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has been reflected in traffic fines for 2025 as a record-level hike. The new fine amounts, which will be effective as of today, were detailed in the "General Communiqué on the Tax Procedure Law" published in the Official Gazette.
TRAFFIC FINES INCREASED
From running a red light to lane violations, from not wearing a seat belt to littering, many violations now face heavier sanctions. Traffic fines for 2025 will require citizens to pay more attention to the rules.
Here are the increased fines:
Violation of Right of Way at an Intersection: 993 TL
Not Wearing a Seat Belt: 993 TL
Lane Violation: 993 TL
Littering: 993 TL
Record Fine for Unauthorized Use of Flashing Lights
Those who install flashing lights or audible warning devices on their vehicles without authorization will face heavy sanctions in 2025.
First violation: 138 thousand 172 TL
Repeated violations: 276 thousand 345 TL
Violations and Fines
Emergency Lane Violation: Those who use the emergency lane unnecessarily will receive a fine of 9 thousand 267 TL.
Occupying Disabled Parking Spaces: A fine of 1,986 TL will be issued to those who use disabled parking spaces.
Exceeding Passenger Capacity: Those carrying extra passengers will be fined 777 TL.
Carrying Loads That Endanger Traffic Safety: A fine of 2 thousand 72 TL will be applied.
Heavy Sanctions for Speed Limit Violations
Drivers who do not comply with speed rules will face the following fines:
Exceeding the Speed Limit by 10%-30%: 2 thousand 167 TL
Exceeding the Speed Limit by 30%-50%: 4 thousand 512 TL
Exceeding the Speed Limit by More Than 50%: 9 thousand 267 TL
Note: The driver's licenses of those who exceed the speed limit by more than 50% five times within the same year will be confiscated for one year.
FINES FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS
Exceeding the Alcohol Limit: Drivers who exceed 0.50 promille for private vehicles and 0.20 promille for commercial vehicles will receive the following fines:
First Violation: 9 thousand 267 TL
Second Violation: 11 thousand 622 TL
Third Violation: 18 thousand 677 TL
Additionally: Licenses will be confiscated for 6 months for the first violation, 2 years for the second, and 5 years for the third.
Driving Under the Influence of Drugs: A fine of 47 thousand 842 TL will be issued, and the driver's license will be confiscated for 5 years.
Refusing a Drug Test: A fine of 26 thousand 557 TL will be applied.
Driving in the Wrong Direction: 9 thousand 267 TL
Drifting or Spinning: 46 thousand 392 TL
Failure to Comply with Winter Tire Rules: 5 thousand 856 TL
