6 provinces carry Turkey's automotive exports

90 percent of the Turkish automotive sector's exports in 2023 were carried out from Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Sakarya, Ankara, and Izmir.

According to data from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association, the automotive industry, which closed 2022 with 30 billion 995 million 808 thousand dollars in exports, reached the highest export volume of all time last year, increasing by 13 percent to 35 billion 4 million 230 thousand dollars.

The automotive sector, which finished last year as the leader of the country's exports, accounted for 15.8 percent of Turkey's total exports.

The number of provinces in the Turkish automotive sector with billion-dollar exports also rose from 5 to 6.

90 percent of the 35 billion dollars in exports in 2023 were made from Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Sakarya, Ankara, and Izmir, each of which exceeded one billion dollars.

KOCAELİ, IN FIRST PLACE, HAS 8.4 BILLION DOLLARS IN AUTOMOTIVE EXPORTS

Automotive exports from Kocaeli, the sector's leader in foreign sales among provinces, increased by 14.7 percent compared to 2022, rising from 7 billion 383 million 521 thousand dollars to 8 billion 466 million dollars.

Istanbul, which ranked second, saw its foreign sales increase by 16.3 percent compared to 2022, reaching 8 billion 457 million 595 thousand dollars from 7 billion 273 million 442 thousand dollars.

Bursa finished last year in automotive exports with a 7.6 percent increase compared to 2022. Bursa's foreign sales, which were 6 billion 696 million 921 thousand dollars in 2022, were recorded as 7 billion 203 million 753 thousand dollars in 2023.

SAKARYA'S AUTOMOTIVE EXPORTS INCREASED BY 19.8 PERCENT

Exports from Sakarya increased by 19.8 percent compared to 2022, rising from 4 billion 211 million 632 thousand dollars to 5 billion 45 million 405 thousand dollars.

Foreign sales from Ankara, which ranked 5th in automotive exports, increased by 21.4 percent compared to 2022. The capital's exports, which were 1 billion 216 million 305 thousand dollars in 2022, were recorded as 1 billion 476 million 121 thousand dollars last year.

Izmir, which carried out 921 million 543 thousand dollars in automotive exports in 2022, increased this performance by 9.3 percent in 2023 to 1 billion 7 million 689 thousand dollars.

The total automotive foreign sales of Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Sakarya, Ankara, and Izmir, which account for 90 percent of Turkey's automotive exports, amounted to 31 billion 656 million 566 thousand dollars.

Last year, more than 100 million dollars in automotive exports were also made from Adana, Aydın, Çankırı, Hatay, Izmir, Kırşehir, Konya, Manisa, Samsun, and Tekirdağ.
