Affecting millions of employees: Minimum wage statement from Vedat Işıkhan

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan gave important messages regarding the course of preparations for the minimum wage to be applied in 2026. Minister Işıkhan shared his expectations for the new wage-setting process while presenting his ministry's budget at the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Committee.

THE COMMISSION SITS AT THE TABLE IN DECEMBER

Işıkhan said, "We have increased the minimum wage, which was 184 liras in 2002, by 223 percent in real terms. This year, our commission will meet in December to determine the minimum wage to be applied in 2026. We hope that an agreement will be reached on an amount that everyone agrees on."

Işıkhan also added, "We will continue to resolutely maintain our principle of protecting our employees against inflation and providing permanent welfare for them."
