A striking statement came from the government front ahead of the rallies that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will hold in Ankara today and in Istanbul tomorrow.
AKP Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu spoke to Haber Global about the regulations for retirees.
Responding to questions before Erdoğan's major Ankara rally, Akbaşoğlu said:
"There was a magnificent crowd in Çankırı yesterday. Today, we are at the great Ankara rally. Our President will give important national and international messages from here as well. Retirees are the crown jewels of our heads. Workers are the crown jewels of our heads. We are talking about the working segment that produces and grows Turkey, and our 16 million retirees who receive returns proportional to their premiums.
We declared 2024 the year of the retiree. A regulation was made on this matter. With this regulation, our retirees have expectations. Demands regarding the evaluation of these situations have been reflected. We have not remained indifferent to this until today, and we will not. We will not let them be crushed by inflation. Our Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Finance have always carried out their work. A promotion regulation was also made. Private banks also need to take initiative.

We are considering regulations in 2024 by taking into account approaches that reduce the expenses of our retirees, increase their income, and raise their purchasing power in many areas. Our Ministries are carrying out the work on this matter. Our President always conducts politics by taking into account his sensitivity on this issue and the demands.
In this sense, hopefully, let us listen to our President carefully today and tomorrow with this rally. We will definitely make the regulations regarding retirees by the end of June or the beginning of July. We will carry out work by taking the demands into account."
