AKP voters are also hopeless

The AKP's promises of economic development and justice have begun to be questioned even among its own voters after 23 years. While the economic hardships that have deepened since the 2018 currency crisis have pushed millions of people to struggle with poverty, a large part of society finds the government's economic policies unsuccessful and paints a pessimistic picture for the coming year.

The 'Turkey Voter Trends Research' conducted by the Social Studies Institute revealed that 33.4% of AKP voters think the economy will get worse in the coming year. Furthermore, 27.9% of AKP voters believe the government is unsuccessful in fighting corruption and waste.

Confidence in the justice system has also been shaken. While 40% of AKP voters state that the justice system does not operate fairly, 41% express dissatisfaction with the current economic situation.

WHAT DOES SOCIETY THINK

In society at large, the situation is even more concerning. According to the research, 61.7% of society thinks that the government's economic policies have made the situation worse over the last year. While the rate of those dissatisfied with the economic situation is 58.7%, those who are satisfied remain at only 16.9%.

The rate of those who think the economy will worsen in the next year was recorded at 56.1%. 79% of CHP voters and 34.4% of MHP voters share this view. While the rate of those who think the government manages the economy well is 22.4%, 63.1% state that it manages it poorly, and 58% state that it is unsuccessful in fighting corruption and waste.
