İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has reached a new peak in daily passenger and flight traffic due to increased travel demand during the summer season. On Sunday, July 19, 2026, the airport served 171,460 passengers, while 915 flights were carried out on the same day.
In a statement from the HEAŞ Corporate Communications Department, it was noted that these figures were recorded as the highest daily passenger and flight traffic in the airport's history. The statement indicated that the intense demand, which has been ongoing since the beginning of the summer period, has brought about these new historic levels.
It was reported that the record density was managed through the coordination of the Airport Authority HEAŞ and the terminal operator İSG, along with planning on the ground. It was stated that units ranging from air traffic control to apron operations, and from terminal services to security, cleaning, and passenger guidance processes, worked on a 24-hour basis.
Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which is among Turkey's important aviation hubs, continues to strengthen its role in Istanbul's air transportation with the increasing domestic and international mobility, especially during the summer months.
