Due to the storm in the Sea of Marmara, a large number of fishing boats were unable to set sail this week. While only a small amount of fish arrived at the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Bandırma Fisheries Market, some fishermen were unable to open their stalls.

The price per kilogram of anchovies, the fish that has graced the stalls the most this year, rose to 200 liras, breaking a record. Fisherman Ramazan Dere stated that the prices of all fish, along with anchovies, have increased, noting that this situation may continue for the next 3 days depending on weather conditions.

Ramazan Dere said, "Compared to last week, fish prices have become quite expensive. This week, the price of a kilogram of anchovies went up to 200 liras. Sardines and horse mackerel, which are normally 70 liras, have risen to the 80-100 lira band. Due to weather conditions, prices may rise even further in the coming days. Currently, some fishermen are already closed. The reason for this is that little fish is coming in. We anticipate that the storm will continue for the next 3 days. Prices will drop again once weather conditions improve."
