Another blow to Turkey from Syria: Imports halted!
The Damascus administration in Syria has indefinitely suspended the import of frozen chicken and 20 different agricultural products, effective August 15, 2025.

According to information provided by the Damascus Commercial Consultancy, the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade banned the import of frozen chicken indefinitely with its decision dated August 10, 2025.
The ban went into effect as of August 15. The justification for the decision was stated as both the protection of domestic producers and the public interest.
ATTENTION DRAWN TO FOOD SECURITY
The ban covers all frozen chicken under customs tariff heading 0207 and is based on the Ministry of Agriculture circular dated July 27, 2025.
IMPORTS HALTED FOR 20 PRODUCTS
The General Directorate of Syrian Land and Sea Ports had also taken a comprehensive ban decision starting from the beginning of August. Accordingly, the import of 20 different agricultural and poultry products has been halted.
