Despite two separate price hikes in the last two months, another increase for cigarettes is expected in September.
TBYD President Erol Dündar stated, "The date is set, but we are not giving an exact date in case there are delays. There will be a price hike in the range of 3-5 TL this month. We can say the first weeks of September."
According to the report by TELE1, Erol Dündar, President of the Monopoly Dealers Solidarity Association (TBYD), announced that prices will be increased by between 3 and 5 Turkish Lira.
GAVE A DATE FOR THE CIGARETTE HIKE
Stating that the hike will come in the first weeks of September, Dündar said, "We expect the hike within September. The date is set, but we are not giving an exact date in case there are delays. There will be a price hike in the range of 3-5 TL this month. We can say the first weeks of September."
"BECAUSE IT DOES NOT COVER COSTS..."
Noting that monopoly dealers have limited stock of products, Dündar said, "Products are currently limited. The restriction has not been lifted. The stock problem continues to exist. Companies say it is due to production, but that is not the case. They are implementing regular monthly hikes because it does not cover their costs. Therefore, they do not want to deplete their stock too much."
WILL THERE BE A HIKE ON ALCOHOL?
When asked, "Do you expect a price hike for alcoholic beverages?", Dündar replied, "There is currently no price increase transition for alcohol."
