The statement, which noted that more flexibility will be provided to developers, reported that apps can also be obtained directly from the developers' own websites.
It was also emphasized that app developers will be allowed to create their own marketplaces.
With these changes, it was stated that commissions can be avoided by making direct sales and processing payments outside of the App Store's billing system.
It was recalled that under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which recently came into force in the EU, large tech companies are required to open their software ecosystems to competitors. Those who do not comply with the law could face penalties of up to 10 percent of their annual global sales.
