The news that students seeking scholarships have been waiting for has come from the General Directorate of Foundations. The General Directorate of Foundations has announced that it will provide a non-refundable scholarship of 1,250 lira for 8 months to university students for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Applications will be made between October 20-31, 2023, via the address www.vgm.gov.tr.
The following statements were included in the scholarship announcement of the General Directorate of Foundations:
“Applications will be made via its official website between the specified dates. The General Directorate of Foundations has been providing scholarships to higher education students since 2012. Students who are entitled to receive the scholarship in the 2023-2024 academic year will receive the scholarship for 8 months (October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May) for each academic year they continue to receive it. The monthly scholarship amount for the 2023-2024 academic year has been set at 1,250 TL. At the end of the application period, applications will be evaluated by performing accuracy checks in accordance with the General Directorate of Foundations Higher Education Scholarship Regulation and the Higher Education Scholarship Student Application Evaluation Schedule (Annex-2), which is an annex to this regulation.”
Who cannot benefit from the scholarship:
- Students who work in a permanent job and receive a salary or have an income at least at the level of the minimum wage,
- Police Academy students,
- Students who are studying for an additional period at the educational institution they are attending,
- Master's and doctoral students,
- Students receiving non-refundable educational assistance and scholarships from public institutions,
- Students receiving a needy pension from the General Directorate of Foundations,
- Higher education scholarships are not provided to students whose scholarships were terminated due to failure while benefiting from the General Directorate scholarship in the previous academic year.
According to the scholarship guide of the General Directorate of Foundations, since scholarships are not provided by the General Directorate of Foundations to students who receive scholarships from the Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution, the institution's scholarship application results will be announced after the General Directorate of the Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution announces its scholarship application results.
