The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has released its inflation statistics for October, clarifying the Revaluation Rate, which the state uses as a basis for updating tax and fee items. According to the announced figures, the rate applicable for 2026 is 25.49 percent.
This rate signifies an increase across numerous categories, ranging from passport and driver's license fees to the Motor Vehicle Tax, income tax brackets, and various fines.
THE PRESIDENT HAS THE AUTHORITY TO CHANGE THE RATE
Under the Tax Procedure Law, the President has the authority to reduce the announced revaluation rate by up to 50 percent or increase it by up to 50 percent. Therefore, the final rate of increase to be applied may be adjusted to a different level by presidential decree.
HOW IS THE REVALUATION RATE CALCULATED?
The fundamental basis for the Revaluation Rate is the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) data announced by TUIK. This rate, which is declared every November, is calculated based on the 12-month average increase in the D-PPI as of the end of October of that year.
