The economic crisis that has been ongoing in Turkey for a long time is also deeply affecting young people. The purchasing power of the monthly KYK loans/scholarships provided to university students is eroding day by day. Accordingly, the KYK scholarship amount, which reached 142 dollars in 2012, has fallen to the 46-dollar level today.

KYK loans and scholarships, which are among the most important sources of income for university students, are losing value against the Dollar every day.
When the loan/scholarship amount provided between 2001 and 2023 is examined, it is seen that the scholarship amount, which was 45 TL in 2001, was increased every year and rose to 1,250 TL in 2023. However, when viewed in terms of foreign currency, the amount provided is well behind 2012.
When the KYK loan and scholarship, which has increased 27-fold in 22 years, is calculated according to the September of each year, it reached 142 dollars in 2012, while it remained at the 46-dollar level in 2023.
According to the calculation made via the Central Bank's “Inflation Calculator”:
The 45 TL scholarship fee provided in September 2001 is equivalent to 1,280 TL in September 2023.
Accordingly, it is seen that the amount of the scholarship provided has increased by only 30 TL in Turkish Lira terms, but has fallen by 310 percent in Dollar terms over the past 10 years.
