August inflation in Istanbul hits a peak

According to data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), inflation in Istanbul reached 2.56% monthly and 26.20% annually in August 2025.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has released its wholesale price data for August 2025. According to the data, monthly inflation in Istanbul was 2.56%, while annual inflation was recorded at 26.20%.

The Wholesale Price Index, which reflects wholesale price movements, had shown an increase of 1.14% in July 2025. This rate accelerated in August, rising to 2.56%.

ANNUAL INFLATION REACHED 26.20 PERCENT

According to the statement by ITO, the price increase rate in August 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year was measured at 26.20%. Furthermore, when looking at annual averages, the rate of change stood at 33.30%.

HIGHEST MONTHLY INCREASE IN THE FOOD GROUP

In the price changes observed in August compared to the previous month, the highest increase was seen in the Foodstuffs group. The changes by group were announced as follows:

Foodstuffs: 4.49% increase

Minerals: 4.30% increase

Chemicals: 3.64% increase

Construction Materials: 1.43% increase

Fuel and Energy Materials: 0.83% increase

Unprocessed Materials: 0.83% decrease

Textiles: No change observed

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AT THE TOP IN ANNUAL AVERAGE INCREASE

As of August 2025, the highest increase on an annual average basis occurred in the Construction Materials group. The price increase rates in the groups according to the annual average were ranked as follows:

Construction Materials: 66.60%

Textiles: 55.41%

Foodstuffs: 30.94%

Unprocessed Materials: 29.70%

Chemicals: 26.55%

Fuel and Energy: 24.29%

Minerals: 18.83%
