Automotive production increased by 12 percent in 10 months

The Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) has announced the data for the 10-month period of 2023. Accordingly, total production increased by 12 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 million 210 thousand 342 units. Compared to the 10-month period of last year, automobile production increased by 23 percent to 779 thousand 328, while total production, including tractor production, rose to 1 million 258 thousand 751.
In the commercial vehicle group, production decreased by 3 percent in the first 10 months of the year, with a 6 percent decrease in the light commercial vehicle group, while it increased by 23 percent in the heavy commercial vehicle group. Compared to the 10-month period of 2022, the commercial vehicle market grew by 46 percent, the heavy commercial vehicle market by 24 percent, and the light commercial vehicle market by 51 percent.
In the first 10 months of the year, total automotive exports increased by 7 percent in terms of units compared to the same period of the previous year, while the increase in automobile exports was 21 percent. During this period, total exports reached 832 thousand 80 units, and automobile exports reached 540 thousand 304 units.
In the 10-month period of 2023, the total market grew by 62 percent compared to the same period last year, closing at 999 thousand 858 units. During this period, the automobile market also achieved a 68 percent increase, reaching 749 thousand 501 units.
EXPORTS INCREASED BY 16 PERCENT, REACHING 29.3 BILLION DOLLARS
In the 10-month period of the year, automotive exports increased by 7 percent in terms of units compared to the same period last year, reaching 832 thousand 80 units. During this period, automobile exports increased by 21 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while commercial vehicle exports declined by 12 percent. Tractor exports increased by 3 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 15 thousand 648 units.
According to the data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, total automotive industry exports maintained their top position in the sectoral export rankings with a 14 percent share in the 10-month period of 2023.
According to the data from the Uludağ Exporters' Association (UIB), total automotive exports in the first 10 months increased by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 29.3 billion dollars. In terms of euros, it increased by 13 percent, reaching 27.1 billion euros. During this period, main industry exports increased by 19 percent in dollar terms, and supply industry exports increased by 11 percent.
