Bank interest rates have fallen! The return on 1 million TL has changed
As deposit interest rates began to decline in February, rates have dropped to as low as 50 percent for 100,000 TL and 49.50 percent for 1 million TL. Banks are offering higher interest rates for lower-amount deposits, while proposing lower rates for higher-amount deposits.

The downward trend in deposit interest rates continues in the second week of February. While interest rates at some banks remain at the 50 percent level for 100,000 TL, the highest rates for 1 million TL deposits have receded to around 49.50 percent.
High inflation data continues to affect the speed of the decline in interest rates. While the 32-day net return for 100,000 TL is calculated at 3,726 TL, the 32-day return for a 1 million TL deposit stands out at 36,888 TL.
Banks offer high interest rates for low-amount deposits, while providing lower rates for high-amount deposits.
Banking sources state that it may be possible to obtain higher interest by opening separate accounts for family members.
INFLATION EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS
Meanwhile, important signals are also coming from inflation figures, which directly affect the speed of the decline in interest rates. The January CPI data announced last week exceeded expectations on a monthly basis at 5.03%.
The CBRT management, which revised its 2025 expectation to 24% at the first inflation report meeting of the year on Friday, gave the message that they have not "put it on autopilot" in interest rate policy and that they will "proceed in a data-driven manner."

Fibabanka: 49.50%
ODEA Bank: 48.50%
CEPTETEB: 48.00%

It did not go unnoticed that the net return, which is at its highest at 3,726 TL for a 100,000 TL deposit, drops to 3,688 TL for every 100,000 TL in a 1 million TL deposit. According to the news in Türkiye newspaper, banking sources state that due to the difference in interest rates, deposits could be distributed across accounts opened separately for family members, and thus higher returns could be obtained from accounts with lower balances.
