For consumers comparing personal loan options due to cash needs, cost calculation has once again come to the forefront. According to the current rates announced by banks, the monthly installment for a 250,000 TL personal loan with a 12-month maturity exceeds 28,000 TL when considering the lowest rate.
In the credit market, eyes are also turned to the third Inflation Report of the year, which the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) will announce on Thursday, August 13. In an environment where the policy rate is at 37 percent and annual inflation is at 31.75 percent, the messages to be given in the report are also expected to be followed in terms of expectations regarding credit costs.
As reported by Türkiye Gazetesi, Uludağ University Faculty of Economics Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Eryılmaz stated that market participants will specifically look for signals regarding when interest rate cuts will begin and potential changes in funding costs. The rise in oil prices and geopolitical risks originating from the Middle East are also among the topics monitored in the monetary policy outlook.
According to Eryılmaz, the CBRT's emphasis on the decline in the main trend of inflation and the delivery of messages that could be perceived as more “dovish” could be seen as supportive, especially for the banking sector. Conversely, a revision in the year-end inflation forecast from 26 percent toward the 28-29 percent band could be interpreted by the markets as a sign that interest rate cuts might be postponed.
REPAYMENT CALCULATION FOR 250,000 TL LOAN

The Central Bank's messages regarding interest rates and inflation for the upcoming period are expected to be reflected in the costs of consumer loans, including personal loans, over time. For this reason, it is important for those planning to take out a loan to consider not only the monthly installment but also the total repayment amount.
