BES-AR has announced the results of its January food expenditure research.

According to the calculation, the monthly expenditure required for a family of four civil servants to eat healthily is 21,953 TL, while the cost of living for a single employee is 26,712 TL.

The poverty threshold, which is the total amount of monthly expenditures required for food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, health, and similar needs, has risen to 56,942 TL.  The daily cost of healthy nutrition was calculated as 731 TL.

In a statement regarding the issue, BES-AR noted that the minimum wage remains below the hunger threshold, stating, "Workers are forced to pay almost 75-80 percent of their salaries for rent just to meet their housing needs. Every piece of 'good news' given by the government turns into a nightmare. We insistently repeat our demand for a wage that allows all public employees, minimum wage earners, and retirees to live humanely."
