Borsa Istanbul closes the day with gains
The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul rose by 0.62 percent at the end of the day, reaching 11,220.17 points.

The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul, which finished the previous day with a decline, followed a volatile course today. The index, which rose slightly at the opening to 11,172.63 points, came under selling pressure in the first half of the day and retreated to 11,138.18 points. However, showing a recovery in afternoon trading, the BIST 100 closed at 11,220.17 points, gaining 0.62 percent in value compared to the previous day.
The index, which moved between 11,102.18 and 11,235.51 points throughout the day, reached a trading volume of 114.8 billion lira. The BIST 30 index completed the day at 12,203.28 points with a 0.98 percent gain.
Among sector indices, textile and leather was the top gainer with 2.20 percent, while the insurance sector stood out as the sector with the highest loss at 4.88 percent. While value increases were observed in the technology, services, and industrial indices, the financial index and holding index closed the day with losses. The banking index recorded a slight increase.
THY AT THE TOP
While 65 stocks within the BIST 100 closed the day with gains, 35 stocks showed a decline. Among the most traded stocks of the day were Koza Altın İşletmeleri, Turkish Airlines, ASELSAN, Türkiye İş Bankası (C), and Sasa Polyester. From a technical perspective, the 11,250 and 11,350 point levels stand out as resistance for the index, while 11,050 and 10,950 serve as support.
In global markets, a mixed course was observed due to low trading volumes ahead of the New Year holiday, declines in technology stocks, and geopolitical risks. Markets have turned their attention to the minutes of the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting to be released today.
Domestically, according to the latest data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the unemployment rate for November increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month, rising to 8.6 percent.
Analysts state that for tomorrow, the foreign trade balance and the Services Producer Price Index in Turkey, and the manufacturing PMI data from China and the results of weekly jobless claims in the US, will be decisive for the markets. Due to the New Year's holiday, the German and Japanese stock exchanges will be closed, and trading in the UK will end early.
