Following the announcement of June inflation data, the increase in SCT rates has directly affected cigarette prices. First the JTI group, and then BAT and Imperial Tobacco, announced their new price lists. With these developments, there has been a notable increase in cigarette prices.
While the cheapest cigarettes from the JTI and BAT groups start at 80 TL, their most expensive products go up to 96 TL. Imperial Tobacco, on the other hand, set its cheapest cigarette at 79 TL and its most expensive at 91 TL. With these price hikes, it has become almost impossible to find cigarettes under 80 TL.
Industry sources state that it is only a matter of time before other manufacturers also reflect the SCT increase in their prices. Consumers may face further price hikes in the coming days.
