Public transport fares in Ankara have been increased by 24%.
According to the new tariff, which will be effective from February 16, 2025:
Full fare ticket: Increased from 21 TL to 26 TL
Student ticket: Increased from 10.5 TL to 13 TL
Monthly unlimited student subscription: Increased from 300 TL to 350 TL.
In a statement made by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME), the following expressions were used:
"Public transport expenses in the capital Ankara have risen due to inflation and increases in fuel prices. As a result of the sustainability demands of private operators and the cost analyses of the EGO General Directorate, the full fare ticket has been set at 26 TL and the student ticket at 13 TL, effective from February 16, 2025. A new practice has been initiated for citizens who live on minimum wage and receive support from our municipality. Within the scope of the 'Minimum Wage Support Package', 50 monthly rides will be loaded onto the bus cards of citizens receiving support. Furthermore, monthly subscription support of 100 rides will continue to be offered to middle and high school students of families receiving social support.
By maintaining our student-friendly tariff, the monthly unlimited student subscription fee has been set at only 350 TL. Thus, the most advantageous transportation opportunity will continue to be offered to our students. The support we provide to private public bus operators will also continue. According to the statement made by EGO, no commission fees will be charged for balance top-ups made to citizens' transportation cards via bank and credit cards."
