The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has announced the first inflation figures of the year.

According to the data calculated by TurkStat, inflation increased by 4.84 percent in January. On an annual basis, it was calculated at 30.65 percent.

CPI INCREASED BY 31.69 PERCENT ANNUALLY IN FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

The annual changes for the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight were as follows: a 31.69 percent increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, a 29.39 percent increase in transportation, and a 45.36 percent increase in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels. The contributions of these main expenditure groups to the annual change were 7.82 percentage points for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 4.64 for transportation, and 6.74 for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

CPI INCREASED BY 6.59 PERCENT MONTHLY IN FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

The monthly changes for the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight were as follows: a 6.59 percent increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, a 5.29 percent increase in transportation, and a 4.43 percent increase in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels. The contributions of these main groups to the monthly change were 1.61 percentage points for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.88 for transportation, and 0.51 for housing.

As of January 2026, out of the 174 sub-classes covered in the index (Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose-COICOP 2018 5-digit Level), the indices of 14 sub-classes decreased, while there was no change in the indices of 3 sub-classes. An increase occurred in the indices of 157 sub-classes.

SPECIAL SCOPE CPI INDICATOR INCREASED BY 30.11 PERCENT ANNUALLY AND 4.22 PERCENT MONTHLY

The change in the CPI excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold in January 2026 showed an increase of 4.22 percent compared to the previous month, an increase of 4.22 percent compared to December of the previous year, an increase of 30.11 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and an increase of 33.82 percent based on twelve-month averages.

DOMESTIC PRODUCER PRICE INDEX INCREASED BY 27.17 PERCENT ANNUALLY AND 2.67 PERCENT MONTHLY

The D-PPI (2003=100) showed an increase of 2.67 percent in January 2026 compared to the previous month, an increase of 2.67 percent compared to December of the previous year, an increase of 27.17 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and an increase of 25.39 percent based on twelve-month averages.

D-PPI INCREASED BY 27.10 PERCENT ANNUALLY IN MANUFACTURING PRODUCTS

The annual changes for the four sectors of industry were as follows: a 32.97 percent increase in mining and quarrying, a 27.10 percent increase in manufacturing, a 25.94 percent increase in electricity, gas production and distribution, and a 37.21 percent increase in water supply.

The annual changes for the main industrial groups were as follows: a 25.69 percent increase in intermediate goods, a 30.07 percent increase in durable consumer goods, a 30.44 percent increase in non-durable consumer goods, a 22.14 percent increase in energy, and a 29.24 percent increase in capital goods.

D-PPI INCREASED BY 3.24 PERCENT MONTHLY IN MANUFACTURING PRODUCTS

The monthly changes for the four sectors of industry were as follows: a 2.84 percent increase in mining and quarrying, a 3.24 percent increase in manufacturing, a 2.57 percent decrease in electricity, gas production and distribution, and a 2.02 percent increase in water supply.

The monthly changes for the main industrial groups were as follows: a 2.96 percent increase in intermediate goods, a 4.02 percent increase in durable consumer goods, a 4.16 percent increase in non-durable consumer goods, a 1.69 percent decrease in energy, and a 2.82 percent increase in capital goods.

ENAG DATA

The Inflation Research Group (ENAG) has announced its E-CPI data for January 2026. Accordingly, the ENAGrup Consumer Price Index (E-CPI) increased by 6.32 percent in January compared to the previous month. The annual inflation rate was calculated at 53.42 percent.
