BRSA announced: Banking sector made a profit in the first quarter!

The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) has published its report evaluating the financial performance of the banking sector for the first quarter of 2025. The report highlights increases in the sector's profitability and asset size.

According to the report published by the BRSA, the banking sector recorded a significant increase in profit in the first quarter of 2025. Profit, which was 70.9 billion TL in February, rose to 97.9 billion TL in March. During this period, the total assets of the Turkish Banking Sector reached 36 million 131 thousand 512 TL, showing an increase of 3 million 474 thousand 278 TL compared to the end of 2024.

Loans, which are among the sector's largest asset items, were recorded at 17 million 633 thousand 383 TL in March. Securities reached 5 million 765 thousand 848 million TL. Compared to the end of 2024, total assets increased by 10.6 percent, total loans by 9.9 percent, and total securities by 10.3 percent. The non-performing loan ratio was determined to be 1.93 percent.

Deposits, which are the banks' largest source of funds, increased by 11.9 percent compared to the end of 2024, reaching 21 million 145 thousand 469 TL. Total equity rose to 3 million 86 thousand 863 TL, an increase of 6.5 percent. As of March 2025, the sector's net profit for the period was 216 million 114 thousand TL, while the capital adequacy standard ratio stood at 17.63 percent.
