BRSA revokes operating license of Bank Mellat's Istanbul Turkey Central Branch

The decision taken by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) regarding the Bank Mellat Tehran Central Istanbul Turkey Central Branch has been published in the Official Gazette.

According to the decision, the operating license of the branch in question was revoked within the framework of Article 71, paragraph 1, clause (b) of the Banking Law No. 5411.

In the Board's meeting dated 18.09.2026, as a result of the examination of the letter dated 18.09.2026 and numbered E-32521522-101.02.02[61]-203345 and its annexes; it has been decided to revoke the operating license of the Bank Mellat Tehran Central Istanbul Turkey Central Branch within the framework of Article 71, paragraph 1, clause (b) of the Banking Law No. 5411.

Bank Mellat's operating license in Turkey was granted by a Council of Ministers decision dated February 5, 1981. The Bank Mellat İstanbul Turkey Central Branch began operations on April 16, 1982, followed by the opening of the Ankara Branch on October 15, 1985, and the Izmir Branch on October 20, 1992.

In its previous statements, the bank had indicated that Bank Mellat Turkey contributed to joint projects in trade relations between Iran and Turkey and served domestic economic activity.
