Card payments increased by 107 percent in April!
The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in April increased by 107 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 1 trillion 127.8 billion liras.

The Interbank Card Center (BKM) has announced the card payment data for April.
Accordingly, as of April, the number of credit cards in Turkey reached 122.1 million, the number of debit cards reached 190.6 million, and the number of prepaid cards reached 93.7 million.
On an annual basis, there was an increase of 15 percent in the number of credit cards, 8 percent in the number of debit cards, and 21 percent in the number of prepaid cards. The total number of cards reached 406.4 million, an increase of 13 percent.
930.4 BILLION LIRAS OF CARD PAYMENTS WERE MADE WITH CREDIT CARDS
The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in April increased by 107 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 1 trillion 127.8 billion liras.
Of the card payments, 930.4 billion liras were made with credit cards, 175.8 billion liras with debit cards, and 21.6 billion liras with prepaid cards.
In terms of payment amounts, there was an annual increase of 120 percent for credit cards, 56 percent for debit cards, and 130 percent for prepaid cards.
THE AMOUNT OF PAYMENTS MADE BY CARD ONLINE ROSE TO 306.5 BILLION LIRAS
The total number of payments made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in April increased by 25 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 1.46 billion.
While credit cards were used in 823.6 million of the card payments, debit cards in 535.6 million, and prepaid cards in 104.3 million, the growth rates were 28 percent, 19 percent, and 43 percent, respectively.
The amount of payments made by card online increased by 106 percent in April compared to the same month last year, rising to 306.5 billion liras. The share of online card payments in total payments was calculated as 27 percent in terms of amount.
The number of card payments in this area increased by 14 percent to 203 million. The share of the number of online card payments in the total number of payments was recorded as 14 percent.
The number of contactless payments made with cards increased by 40 percent to 945.3 million, and the amount reached 356.3 billion liras, an increase of 148 percent.
In April, approximately 4 out of every 5 in-store card payments were made contactlessly.
94.1 BILLION LIRAS IN PAYMENTS WERE MADE WITH CARDS DURING THE RAMADAN FEAST PERIOD
During the eve of the holiday and the Ramadan Feast period, which coincided with April 9-12, payments totaling 94.1 billion liras were made with cards.
The grocery sector, which is the sector where the most spending occurred, accounted for 20 percent of total card payments. This sector was followed by clothing with 14 percent, dining with 11 percent, gas stations with 10 percent, and the miscellaneous food sector with 8 percent.
The highest increase in card payments made during the holiday occurred in the accommodation sector with 151 percent. This sector was followed by travel agencies with 140 percent, jewelry with 135 percent, gas stations with 132 percent, and the contracting sector with 122 percent.
On the eve of the holiday, 37 billion liras in card payments were made. This amount constituted the majority of the payments during the holiday period.
