Central Bank to announce interest rate decision today! What are the markets expecting?

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) will meet today under the chairmanship of Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan.

The interest rate decision, which the markets are eagerly awaiting, will be announced today at 14:00. In the previous month's MPC meeting, the policy rate was kept steady at 45 percent.

WHAT ARE THE MARKETS EXPECTING?

Economists participating in the AA Finance expectation survey expect the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) to keep the policy rate unchanged.

YEAR-END POLICY RATE EXPECTATION IS 45 PERCENT

The Central Bank had published its March Market Participants Survey, conducted with 70 participants consisting of representatives from the real and financial sectors as well as professionals.

The policy rate expectation for 12 months ahead had increased from 36.62 percent to 36.96 percent.

WHAT ARE THE INFLATION AND DOLLAR EXPECTATIONS?

The participants' year-end dollar/TL expectation was 40.5344. The 12-month ahead dollar/TL expectation had risen from 41.1543 to 42.7890.

The participants' current year-end consumer inflation (CPI) expectation, which was 42.96 percent in the previous survey period, became 44.19 percent in this survey period.

WHAT IS THE CENTRAL BANK'S CURRENT INTEREST RATE?

In February, the Bank kept the policy rate steady at 45 percent in line with expectations.
