While Bret Taylor was appointed as chair of the new board of directors, Larry Summers and Adam D'Angelo also joined the board. On Friday, the company had announced that Altman's tenure as CEO had ended. The company later announced that former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear had been appointed as the new CEO. While Altman's dismissal caused a major stir, the company's investors, led by Microsoft, reacted to this decision. Company employees had also stated that they might leave the company following Altman's dismissal. After the crisis, negotiations for a return began between the company and Altman after some time.
