China's decline in exports and imports continues
The contraction in China's exports and imports continued in September, following the trend in August.

According to customs data released on Friday, China recorded a smaller-than-expected decline in exports in September compared to a year ago, while imports also saw a loss.
In US dollar terms, exports in September fell by 6.2 percent compared to the same period last year, following an 8.8 percent decline in August. Economists had expected a 7.6 percent drop in exports.
Imports also fell by 6.2 percent in September in US dollar terms compared to a year ago. Economists' expectations were for a 6.3 percent decline in imports.
China's exports have fallen on a year-on-year basis every month since May of this year. The last positive year-on-year reading for imports was in September of last year.
China's trade has declined this year due to weak global demand for Chinese goods and a decrease in domestic demand.
