The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) and the Inflation Research Group (ENAG) released their January inflation data today. Evaluating the data, CHP Kayseri MP Aşkın Genç made harsh criticisms regarding the figures announced by TurkStat.

In the post shared on his X account, Genç stated the following:

"While TurkStat announced monthly inflation at 6.70 percent and annual inflation at 64.86 percent, ENAG announced monthly inflation at 9.38 percent and annual inflation at 129.1 percent. TurkStat is once again out of touch with the cost of living experienced by the public, continuing to show inflation as low in line with the instructions it has been given. While the purchasing power of wage earners declines day by day, producers are waiting for the market to stabilize. Unless you announce the real data and establish trust in the economy, you cannot extinguish the fire on the dinner tables."
