CHP reacts sharply to SCT hike: 'Mehmet Şimşek is bullying the public!'

CHP Deputy Chairman Özgür Karabat targeted Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek regarding the midnight SCT hikes. Stating that Şimşek's economic policies create systematic pressure on citizens, Karabat said, "This is no longer economic management; it is direct bullying."

REFERENCE TO "RATIONAL GROUND" PROMISE: "IT ONLY BROUGHT BURDENS"

Karabat argued that the "return to rational ground" promise made by Mehmet Şimşek when he took office has not found a karşılık in practice. Arguing that the economic burdens placed on the public's shoulders have increased over the last two years, Karabat criticized the implemented economic policies by saying, "He is doing everything he can so that people do not drive a good car, do not travel, do not have fun, and do not spend quality time."

"THERE IS NO TAX ON BREATHING YET"

Karabat said that tax increases in many items, especially the SCT, have lowered the quality of life for citizens. He expressed his criticisms with the words, "You cross the bridge, you pay a fee. You don't cross it, you pay a guarantee. Tax when buying a car, tax when buying gasoline, tax when selling, tax while driving on the road, tax again if you have an accident. There is no tax on breathing yet, but that is also circulating around under the name of 'carbon emissions'."

"TAXES COLLECTED FROM SOCIETY FLOW INTO THE PALACE LIFESTYLE"

Stating that tax regulations make it difficult for society to meet its basic needs, Karabat claimed that the practices are legitimized under the pretext of "budget discipline." Arguing that tax revenues are not used fairly, Karabat used harsh expressions, saying, "Every penny collected from society feeds a flashy life at the top, interest lobbies, and tender-rich individuals. In this order, there is no accountability, no questioning."

"ŞİMŞEK IS MANAGING THE FINANCIAL LEG OF THE MARCH 19 COUP"

Describing the economic policies as a "Deli Dumrul mentality," Karabat further intensified his criticisms of Mehmet Şimşek. Defining Şimşek as the "person managing the financial leg of the March 19 coup," Karabat concluded his statement with the following words:

"The state is not one that burdens its people, but one that lightens the load and distributes it fairly. But the AKP is rewriting the story of Deli Dumrul. The day will come when the bully Mehmet Şimşek will also account for everything he has done, one by one, before the Supreme Court."
