Citizens relied on credit cards during Eid al-Adha: Spending amount revealed
According to data from the Interbank Card Center (BKM), it was announced that 132.3 billion TL in payments were made during the Eid al-Adha period.

Compared to the Eid al-Adha period in 2023, card payments increased by 93 percent.
During the Eid al-Adha period, which covers the eve and the four days of the holiday, 132.3 billion TL in payments were made through 216 million card transactions. While 45.4 billion TL in card payments were made on the eve, this amount accounted for nearly half of the total payments made during the holiday period. The time interval with the highest number of card transactions on the eve was between 18:00 and 19:00, while the minute with the most transactions was 18:12.
The most spending was done in grocery stores
According to the Interbank Card Center (BKM) Eid al-Adha card payment data, the grocery sector, which was the sector with the highest spending, accounted for 22 percent of total card payments, while the clothing sector accounted for 12 percent, the gas station sector for 10 percent, the food/dining sector for 10 percent, and the miscellaneous food sector for 8 percent.
When comparing card payments made during this year's Eid al-Adha with last year, it is observed that the highest increase occurred in the jewelry sector with 137 percent. While the jewelry sector was followed by the clothing sector with a 127 percent increase and the car rental sector with a 116 percent increase, the grocery sector with a 110 percent increase and the health products/cosmetics sector with a 108 percent increase are among the other sectors that showed the highest growth compared to last year.
