Claims of a 50 percent hike in natural gas and electricity! 'This winter will be difficult...'
Evaluating the 'income-based' model announcement regarding electricity bills made by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, CHP's Vehbi Bakırlıoğlu stated, "Before winter arrives, state support for electricity and natural gas bills will be removed, and there will be a hike of at least 50 percent. This winter will be difficult for citizens."

It has been claimed that there may be a new price hike for natural gas and electricity before the winter months, following hikes of up to 38 percent during the summer.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar caused confusion by stating that a new model for electricity bills would be implemented, saying, "We think it is more appropriate to reflect the cost to consumers with high income groups who can bear the actual cost."
CHP Manisa Deputy Ahmet Vehbi Bakırlıoğlu noted that there are 3 million 721 thousand beneficiaries receiving electricity bill support from the Ministry of Family and Social Services. As reported by Sözcü, Bakırlıoğlu said, "Before winter arrives, state support for electricity and natural gas bills will be removed, and there will be a hike of at least 50 percent. This winter will be difficult for citizens."
"HOW WILL THESE INDIVIDUALS BE DETERMINED?"
Stating that there are ambiguous points in Minister Bayraktar's announcement, Bakırlıoğlu said, "How will these individuals be determined? Will support continue only for citizens and retirees who receive bill support from the Ministry? If this is the case, the electricity and natural gas bills of our minimum wage earners and fixed-income citizens will increase by 50 percent. While the tax debts of distribution companies are being wiped out, it will once again be the citizens who suffer. Bills and debts will swell."
