Closure decision issued for Eczacıbaşı's Gensenta facility
Eczacıbaşı İlaç Sanayi has announced that it will cease operations and close Gensenta's pharmaceutical production facility in Şekerpınar, Kocaeli, by March 31, 2026. As part of the closure, the employment of 44 staff members will be terminated with their legal rights paid.

Eczacıbaşı, one of the major organizations in the Turkish pharmaceutical sector, has announced that it has decided to close the production facility of its subsidiary, Gensenta, located in the Şekerpınar region of Kocaeli. In the information provided by company officials, it was stated that production at the relevant factory will continue until March 31, 2026, after which all operations will be completely terminated.
In the statement sent to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), previous announcements regarding the sale of the land, which is larger than 58 thousand square meters, and the elements at the facility excluding machinery were recalled. It had been stated that production would continue until December 31, 2025, the planned date for the transfer of the land to its new owner; however, this date had been extended to May 31, 2026, in line with the demands of stakeholders. With the latest announcement, it has been finalized that the facility's production activities will end completely as of March 31, 2026.
The statement included the following: "In our announcement dated 22.11.2024, it was stated that the Board of Directors of our subsidiary, Gensenta İlaç Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. ("Gensenta"), had decided to sell the raw material production facilities located in Şekerpınar (excluding machinery and equipment) and the total 58,725.12 square meter plot of land on which they are situated ("Real Estate"), and that in line with the needs of Gensenta stakeholders, production at the said facility would continue until 31.12.2025, the date determined for delivery to the buyer; and in our announcement dated 09.12.2025, it was stated that the delivery date of the Real Estate to the buyer had been updated to 31.05.2026 in order to meet the ongoing supply needs of Gensenta stakeholders.
This time, within the framework of changes in demand conditions for products manufactured at the raw material production facility, as well as compliance with production efficiency and cost optimization targets, it has been decided to permanently cease all production activities at the raw material production facility as of 31.03.2026, to close the facility completely, and to terminate the employment contracts of the 44 personnel working at the facility."
In line with this decision, it was announced that the employment contracts of the personnel in question will be terminated with all their legal rights paid.
