A competition investigation has been launched into Adidas.
In a statement on the Competition Authority's website, it was recalled that the Board had previously decided in 2022 to reject complaints and not to open an investigation into Adidas, which operates in the field of sports footwear, apparel, and accessories, following a preliminary investigation conducted to determine whether it had violated the Law on the Protection of Competition.
However, the statement noted that the aforementioned Board decision was annulled by the Ankara 12th Administrative Court in 2023, and that it was decided in January to conduct a preliminary investigation into Adidas to fulfill the requirements of the court ruling.
The statement indicated that, as a result of the information and documents obtained during the preliminary investigation process and the subsequent examination, the Board found the findings regarding allegations that the company interfered with the resale prices of its authorized dealers to be serious and sufficient, and therefore decided to launch an investigation into Adidas.
Meanwhile, the investigation decisions taken by the Board do not mean that the undertakings or associations of undertakings under investigation have violated the law or that they will face sanctions.
