Competition Board fines 4 companies 76 million TL

The Competition Board has concluded its investigation into cement and ready-mixed concrete companies operating in Aydın. A total of 76.5 million TL in administrative fines was imposed on 4 companies due to price-fixing and customer allocation. Within the scope of the investigation, a total of 15 companies have been fined over 190 million liras.

The Competition Board has imposed a total of 76.5 million liras in administrative fines on Batıbeton Sanayi, Öztürk Ticaret, Şölen Çimento, and Çimentaş, which operate in the ready-mixed concrete and cement sectors.

According to the announcement on the Competition Authority's website, the investigation conducted into certain enterprises operating in the production and sale of cement and ready-mixed concrete in Aydın has been completed.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Batıbeton Sanayi AŞ, Öztürk Ticaret, and Şölen Çimento Yapı İnş. San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. violated the Law on the Protection of Competition by engaging in price-fixing or customer-region allocation with their competitors in the ready-mixed concrete production and sales market.

It was also determined that Çimentaş İzmir Çimento Fabrikası Türk AŞ violated the law by mediating the implementation of an agreement regarding customer allocation made between certain enterprises operating in the field of ready-mixed concrete production and sales in Didim, Aydın.

The Board decided to impose administrative fines on the aforementioned enterprises on the grounds that they violated the law. In this context, an administrative fine of 37 million 851 thousand 666 liras was imposed on Batıbeton Sanayi, 28 thousand 308 liras on Öztürk Ticaret, 1 million 216 thousand 947 liras on Şölen Çimento, and 37 million 370 thousand 945 liras on Çimentaş. Thus, a total of 76 million 467 thousand 866 liras in administrative fines was issued to the 4 companies.

A TOTAL OF OVER 190 MILLION IN FINES IMPOSED ON 15 COMPANIES

Within the scope of the same investigation, a settlement decision had previously been reached regarding 11 ready-mixed concrete companies, and a total of 113 million 662 thousand 187 liras in administrative fines had been imposed on those parties. In the completed investigation process, a total of 190 million 130 thousand 53 liras in administrative fines has been imposed on 15 enterprises.
