Concordat filings continue one after another, this time a chocolate manufacturer: It was once a partner of Ülker

Modern Çikolata has filed for a concordat due to the financial difficulties it is facing, gaining a three-month period to stabilize its financial situation.

During this period, the company is expected to recover its financial structure. The court has set the hearing date for September 26, 2025.

The company, which had previously been involved in joint projects with Ülker, had recently been struggling to pay its employees' salaries.

This situation is considered an indicator that the company's financial troubles have deepened.

EMPLOYEES' SALARIES COULD NOT BE PAID

The financial difficulties experienced by the company had been on the public agenda for a long time. In a statement made in March 2025, it was stated that the deterioration in economic conditions had negatively affected the company, and the following remarks were included: “Difficult financing conditions have also negatively reflected on our company. We are about to complete the restructuring process for financial sustainability.”

However, before this process could be concluded, it was learned that employees' salaries could not be paid and creditors had filed for bankruptcy. In particular, applications made by creditors to the court as of May 2025 accelerated the process.

IT ONCE HAD A PARTNERSHIP WITH ÜLKER

Modern Çikolata operates under Tayyar Yatırım, which carried out joint projects with Ülker between 1999 and 2014. Continuing its path with its own brand after the partnership ended, the company produces at its factory in the Karaman Organized Industrial Zone. 'Modern Çikolata', which once had an annual production capacity of 140 thousand tons, produced over 300 products in 7 main categories, including biscuits, cakes, crackers, wafers, chocolate bars, and cream chocolate.
