Credit limit increased for women and young farmers in agriculture

The Agricultural Ecosystem Meeting, held at the Istanbul Haliç Congress Center, was hosted by Ziraat Bank with high participation. In addition to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Ziraat Bank General Manager Alpaslan Çakar, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, and Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek also made assessments at the event.

In his speech, President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of agriculture for humanity and societies, and thanked the producers. "Great civilizations have been built by societies that understand the language of the soil and the climate. Our farmers have a hand in every food product. I offer you my gratitude," he said.

Erdoğan touched upon the environmental damage caused by the natural resources consumed by the modern world and drew attention to the potential consequences of the disruption of the ecological balance.

Stating that natural disasters such as droughts, fires, floods, and frosts experienced last year challenged farmers, Erdoğan added, "We went through a particularly difficult period last year."

Stating that a total of 47 billion TL was paid to farmers affected by the frost disaster last year, Erdoğan expressed that a record in productivity is expected this year thanks to water resources and dam occupancy rates. The President, who stated that Turkey ranks third in the world in vegetable production and fourth in fruit production, noted that it ranks in the top three globally for 21 plant products.

Furthermore, stating that Turkey is among the top 10 in seed exports and sends seeds to 117 countries, Erdoğan said, "Exports in June 2026 increased by 21.9 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 24.9 billion dollars. In the first 6 months, agricultural and food exports reached 16.3 billion dollars."

President Erdoğan stated that growth in the sector will continue through the expansion of organized agricultural zones and the intensification of agricultural support.

Reminding that Turkey provides agricultural support at a level above the OECD average, Erdoğan said that a budget of 939 billion TL has been allocated to producers this year through Ziraat Bank.

Announcing that the credit limit specifically provided to women and young farmers will be increased from 3 million liras to 5 million liras, Erdoğan said, "Significant financing will be provided for investment loans with a maturity of up to 10 years, with a 2-year grace period on the principal, without requiring equity contribution." It was also emphasized that idle cattle, dairy, and livestock enterprises will be brought back into the economy. It was stated that credit support with a 2-year grace period will be provided with upper limits of 60 million TL for dairy farming and 40 million TL for livestock investment.

With these new credit packages, resources of up to 2 million TL will be provided for small ruminant farming and up to 3 million TL for cattle farming. It was announced that renewable energy investments in agriculture will be financed with a maturity of 8 years up to 15 million TL.

In this context, President Erdoğan emphasized that the steps taken to support agriculture and production will have a positive impact on the economy and the producers.
