Critical meeting at the CBRT following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu

Following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the management of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) will also meet with bank executives. The meeting to be held with the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB) is scheduled to begin at 15:00. It was stated that the TBB will make a statement following the meeting.

The CBRT had implemented a series of measures following the detention of İmamoğlu. The CBRT, which raised the overnight lending rate in an extraordinary meeting, had also decided to suspend weekly repo auctions.

Taking steps regarding liquidity management, the CBRT had also stated that it would begin issuing liquidity bills.
