Current account deficit expectation for May set at 1.08 billion dollars

Economists expect Turkey's current account deficit for May to reach 1 billion 84 million dollars.

According to a survey regarding the "May 2025 Balance of Payments" data to be released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) on July 11, 16 leading economists in the sector projected that the current account deficit would be around 1 billion 84 million dollars.

Among the prominent forecasts in the survey, expectations for the May deficit ranged from a low of 280 million dollars to a high of 4 billion 800 million dollars.

WIDE RANGE OF FORECASTS FOR YEAR-END 2025

Economists agree that the current account deficit could reach 19 billion 783 million dollars for the entire year. Expectations for the 2025 current account deficit range between 17 and 22 billion dollars.

In the figures released in April, Turkey's current account recorded a deficit of 7 billion 864 million dollars. With the latest data, the annualized current account deficit rose to 15 billion 815 million dollars.

The final data regarding the current account balance will be shared with the public next week.
