Customs duty on lemons has been revised

The Ministry of Trade has announced that the customs duty rate applied to lemon imports has been revised.

In a written statement from the Ministry, it was emphasized that trade policies are conducted in coordination with relevant institutions, primarily the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The statement noted that necessary measures are taken in a timely manner based on market conditions.

In this context, it was stated that a new regulation has been introduced for the lemon market, noting: "Within this framework, in order to ensure that consumer needs for lemons are met at affordable prices, and taking into account production, supply-demand balance, price movements, and foreign trade data for the product in question, the customs duty applied to imports has been revised to 10 percent, effective until July 31, 2026. On the other hand, in order to protect domestic producers, and considering the harvest season for lemons, the customs duty of 54 percent, which is the maximum level of our international commitments, will continue to be applied to imports made as of August 1, 2026."

The statement further expressed that steps to protect both producers and consumers will continue. In this regard, the following was stated: "Our Ministry will continue to closely monitor domestic and foreign markets and take all necessary measures to protect both producers and consumers, in order to ensure supply security and price stability in food products and to prevent speculative price movements."
